*deep sigh*
So a while ago I suggested that maybe after the Animaniacs reboot we'd get a new Pinky and the Brain movie.
And you know what?
Tumblr media
WE ALMOST DID!!!!
According to Maurice LaMarche, a new Pinky and the Brain movie was in development, but it "went the same way as the coyote", an obvious reference to what happened to Coyote Vs Acme.
Did it become a tax write-off?
I don't think so. He specifically says "they killed it" and goes on to say "maybe it will be in development again", so what I think happened is that new management took over and the movie was scrapped, not written-off.
This seems to be that potential movie the VAs were hinting at in interviews they did to advertise season 3 of the reboot, such as the one featured in this article:
Or the one featured in this article:
Although that's just speculation, they could've just been hoping for a movie, although it does seem like the movie was in development at around the same time the reboot was coming to an end. And if that's the case, I have to assume it was going to provide a conclusion to Julia's arc...
Tumblr media
Damn.

On Saturday, March 16th, I had the honor of meeting the amazingly talented Rob Paulsen at Silver State Toys Comics and Sports Expo 2024!
To those of you who are unaware, he is the voice actor for iconic cartoon characters such as Yakko from Animaniacs, Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron, Raphael from TMNT 1987 and Donatello from TMNT 2012, and many more! He was so incredibly sweet and kind, he loved my PatB t-shirt and he autographed a poster for me with Pinky’s signature catchphrase, “NARF!” It was an absolute dream come true for me to finally get to meet him in person, I will never forget this!!! 😄☺️ 🐁🐢

Preference:
Obscure, less known about merch please. So preferably no Funko Pops or Kidrobot Phunny Plushes (like the one featured in the icon), for example. I MIGHT post more well known merch at some point, but I'm trying to keep posts like those to a minimum.
Rules:
OFFICIAL MERCH ONLY. No bootlegs.
Pinky and the Brain merch is allowed.
Merch that features non-Animaniacs characters (like characters from Looney Tunes if it's a Kids' WB thing, for example) is allowed, as long as something/someone from Animaniacs is present.
If you still have questions, ask me anything.
You can also follow Daily Animaniacs Merch on X, ahem, Twitter.

Do you have any "underrated" actors, or ones who you think deserve more spotlight? Are there any scenes that come to mind from their career?
Sorry it took so long for me to answer this, but here it is! Get ready for a long list because I have many, many thoughts.
Buster Keaton: This man is one of the kings of the silent film era as well as among stuntmen. This man was dedicated to his craft and it shows because his stunts are nothing short of incredible, especially since for the 1920s being a stuntman was incredibly dangerous. Oftentimes stuntmen were locals with not a lot of training, and many times they were severely injured or killed, so it was very rare for an actual actor for the time to do their own stunts. And not only was he an actor and stuntman, he was also an incredible director. I'd highly recommend any of his films, but the one that introduced me to him was Sherlock Jr, which is free on YouTube to watch. But, if you just want a taste of some of his stunts, here's a good compilation. One last thing about him that's absolutely badass in my opinion: in Sherlock Jr (and that compilation ) the stunt with the water tower actually broke his neck when he fell on the track. He brushed it off with a drink to get rid of the ache, and 30 years later at a doctor's appointment he was asked when he broke his neck after getting an x-ray. Short king badass.
Carrie Fisher: Yeah, she's definitely more well-known, but hear me out. When you think of Carrie Fisher, you probably think of Princess Leia. And although her acting is fantastic in that role, I feel like it overshadows a lot of her other roles. I love Princess Leia as much as everyone else, but two of my other favorite roles of hers are Marie in When Harry Met Sally and Mystery Woman in The Blues Brothers. I adore this woman so much and I really wish these two roles of her got more attention. Even though her screen time in these two films were short, I loved both of her characters; the Tunnel Scene in Blues Brothers is probable one of my favorites. Rip Queen.
Tony Todd: People do NOT talk about this man as much as he deserves. Like I never really see people talk about him compared to a lot of other prominent horror actors for example. He's in a lot of things: Venom in the Spider-Man 2 game from 2023, the Vortigaunts in Half-Life 2 Episode 2 and Half-Life Alyx, Ben in Night of the Living Dead (1990), Bludworth in Final Destination, among many other things, but most people will recognize him as The Candyman. His voice is absolutely legendary, and it's not hard to see why. No amount of praise I could give this man could ever do his performances justice, so I'll let them speak for themselves. "The Gas-Pump Scene" in Night of the Living Dead and the "Be My Victim Scene" in Candyman are my all-time favorites. This man is an absolute legend.
Rob Paulsen: Another big name that doesn't get the recognition he deserves. He's one of the most prominent voice actors of all time, even more so than Mark Hamill (who also doesn't get talked about much when it comes to his voice acting compared to his live-action roles). This man is responsible for so many voices in my childhood: Yakko, Pinky, Dr. Scratchansniff, Donatello, Raphael, Sir Rothchild, Mark Chang, Toodles, Spike (Land Before Time), Bobble, Jack Fenton, Carl Wheezer, P.J. Pete, and Bubsy (every time I hear Bubsy I think of Snapcube's video and this clip and I break down sobbing with laughter) to just name a few. This man is responsible for voicing so many beloved characters since 1983; he's an absolute icon among voice actors in my opinion. Animaniacs is one of my favorite childhood shows, and I know it wouldn't be the same if his characters were voiced by someone else.
Dolly Parton: The patron saint of the Smokies and one of the best country singers to ever exist. She's not in a lot of movies or tv shows, but she was in two movies I love: 9 to 5 and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Best Little Whorehouse is a guilty pleasure movie of mine because it's such a out-of-the-box idea for a movie that just works for some reason, but 9 to 5 trumps it. That movie was her first real acting role and she does a fantastic job, and the "Rooster to a Hen" scene lives rent-free in my head constantly and I actively use it whenever I have the chance.
Jim Nabors: This man is very near and dear to my heart. He was born close to where I grew up, he was a Southern gay man, and I spent a lot of my childhood watching him on The Carol Burnett show (the two of them were best friends and I love them both so much), The Andy Griffith Show, and Gomer Pyle USMC. I could name so many of his scenes that I love, but I gotta go with the "Citizen's Arrest" bit in Andy Griffith because my family quotes it all the time (also honorable mention to Don Knotts; his "Nervous Man"/"Nervous Weatherman" skit is one of my favorites I love his facial expressions) Also a fun fact about Jim Nabors, he's also a balladeer with an incredible singing voice and sang at the opening at the Indy 500 starting in 1972 for 36 years. I've got one of his original records from the 60s and it's one of my most prized possessions.
Alan Alda: This man is responsible for many of my tears, and I mean that in the best way. As writer, director, and actor in M*A*S*H, he's responsible for some of the most heart-wrenching episodes in the entire series. He's in plenty of other things too like Marriage Story, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Canadian Bacon, The Four Seasons, and Everyone Says I Love You, but let's be honest Hawkeye Pierce takes the cake. He can act humor, he can act hopelessness, he can act rage, and he can do it in such an impactful way that's highlighted beautifully in this character. I honestly can't choose a favorite scene of his, but here's two scenes that have the best quality on Youtube: "War is Hell" and "Through the Wisecracks". This man knows how to deliver emotion, and I'm not afraid to admit that that second scene made me cry when I first watched it, and it still makes me tear up now.
David Ogden Stiers: He was also on M*A*S*H, but most people probably know him as Jumba, Governor Ratcliffe, Wiggins, Cogsworth, and The Narrator (Beauty and the Beast). But much like Alan Alda, the role of his I love the most is Major Charles Winchester in M*A*S*H. He replaced Larry Linville's Major Frank Burns as Hawkeye and BJ's tentmate, but he has far more likable moments than Frank. He plays a fantastic stuck-up jackass, but what really makes him underrated is how he can play a character like that who can still have such compelling moments of sympathy and strength that adds so much depth and warmth to the character. "The Piano Scene" was the one that made me love his character, and I think about it a lot. Stiers is fantastic in this scene, and I think it's a beautiful representation of his incredible acting.
Brad Douriff: Much like Carrie Fisher, Douriff's work as Chucky from the Child's Play series often overshadows his other works. Don't get me wrong, the series is great and he's fantastic as Chucky, but I honestly don't believe it's him at his absolute best acting. For me, his roles as Billy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Gemini Killer in The Exorcist III are far more compelling. Cuckoo's Nest was one of his first acting roles, and much like Dolly he nailed it for it being a first. And these two roles just go to show the incredible range this guy has, from the stammering and nervous Billy to the sadistic and rageful Gemini Killer.
Gene Wilder: The original Willy Wonka himself, but he's yet another actor who's other roles are primarily shadowed by one more recognizable role. Once again, he's perfectly fantastic as Willy Wonka, but there's so many of his other roles go unrecognized when he's discussed, such as Eugene from Bonnie and Clyde, Leo in The Producers, Jim in Blazing Saddles, Dr. Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein, and Dave in See No Evil Hear No Evil. I will say that Wonka's my favorite of his roles because of the nostalgia, but I also love Leo and Jim. "Jim's Hysteria" and "Waco Kid" is another show of the fantastic range an actor can have (and an honorable mention to Cleavon Little in this movie, he's fuckin fantastic), and he's genuinely one of my favorites.

Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight: Road Rovers- “A Hair of the Dog That Bit You”
Tumblr media
Road Rovers is one of those Kids WB! series that feels forgotten, released shortly after the block’s exciting original lineup (consisting of new episodes and already iconic repeats of Animaniacs, spin-off Pinky & the Brain, Freakazoid!, The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries and Earthworm Jim) but premiering just before Pokemon was gifted to the block and made Warner’s wacky comedies become irrelevant basically overnight. The show only had one season and made its way to Cartoon Network alongside Freakazoid!, but feels less important, probably due to Road Rovers having half as many episodes.
Now, I’m a child of the 90′s and this era of cartoons still matters to me. Like most people my age, Animaniacs and Tiny Toons were formative shows, but I remember enjoying both Freakazoid! and Road Rovers when they made their way to CN, but I recall enjoying the former a lot more when I rediscovered both series as an adult. Road Rovers was missing some of the wit that made Tom Ruegger’s other shows stand out. Maybe not having Steven Spielberg around to produce was what distinguished the show for the worst, or maybe the show can’t decide if it wants to be a parody of action cartoons of the time or just a sillier version of one.
Ah well, trying it again now shows some charms, and makes me feel a little nostalgic for when I was the weird kid who’d rather watch the less popular shows than Rugrats (which I did also like. I watch cartoons not owned or licensed by Warner, some times, I swear), and this is an entertaining episode. First, if you need a reminder, the Road Rovers are humanoid versions of some of the world leader’s pet dogs, like Hunter, a golden retriever owned by the president, or Colleen, a collie who belongs to the UK’s prime minister, who were turned from regular dogs into what are called “Canosapiens” who protect the world from evil and stuff.
In this one, the Rovers fight a pack of werewolves wrecking havoc in London, and while they fend them off, Exile, the Russian president’s siberian husky, is bit by one. He’s worried that he will turn into a werewolf, and the Rovers try to find a cure to protect him. However, there’s a change in course, as Collie ends up turning into a werewolf instead.
This has some clever moments and fun bits with dogs, all good boys and girls. Who could ask for more?

So it occurred to me that I've never made a "Meet the Artist" page and want to hop on that trend! This was definitely inspired by @unclefathersantateddy and their “Meet the Artist” page. For some visuals of me, I'll be using the art you've seen as my icon, which was a Commission that was made by the very talented and lovely @alyssaerin, and it's of my sister's and my Animal Crossing characters (mine is the one on the right in the yellow dress)! It came out so adorable and perfect that I'll never stop yelling about it. I'll also use the Pic Crew of me that I made.

NEW SERIES ON BLOG: My Top 5 Favorite Voiceover Roles (1/???)
I decided to do a fun new series on my blog sharing my Top 5 Favorite Voiceover Roles by a different actor. Only cartoon, anime, and mayhaps video games will be used (no live action roles).
For this first post, I'll be sharing my top 5 for... Rob Paulsen! He's my all-time favorite voice actor and celebrity in general. Super talented man who's been voicing many of the cartoons/movies we grew up watching for generations.
But first, the honorable mentions!
ZeFronk from Tasty Time with ZeFronk (cute Disney shorts with Rob using a fun French accent. Did I unlock a core memory?)
Yakko Warner from Animaniacs (undeniably one of his most iconic roles)
The Narrator from Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in The Three Musketeers (overall a fun charming role that has Rob really show off his singing chops)
Jack Fenton, the Box Ghost, and Technus from Danny Phantom (hard to really choose between the three, which are all fun roles which have very differing personalities)
Raphael from 1987's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (a role I really felt was Rob's breakout animation role)
Foot Lieutenant from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (since he was the series' voice director, it felt natural that a TMNT legend like him to lend his voice in another iteration)
Rev Runner from Loonatics Unleashed (whether the fast-paced speaking was all Rob, Rev makes for an entertaining character)
Now onto the Top 5!
5. Pinky from Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain
Tumblr media
This is one of the newer roles I've been exposed to (I didn't have a childhood connection with the series), but as an adult, I've grown to appreciate how much of an amazing staple to cartoons it is. Pinky is one of two characters Rob voices in this beloved franchise. Between the two, I grew to love Pinky over Yakko because the amount of heart this seemingly dumb lab rat has. Pinky is very endearing and I can see why this is one of Rob's favorite roles.
4. Bobble from the Disney Fairies film franchise
Tumblr media
How many people remember the Disney Fairies franchise? Did any of you watch the movies? I most certainly did, and I remember how goofy but also charming Bobble was in the first film, named after Disney's most iconic fairy. What makes Bobble extra special for me is that this was the first role that had me realize, "This Rob Paulsen guy is in a lot of stuff I watch". Bobble maybe comic relief, but he's still an endearing character, much like Rob's many other characters.
3. Mark Chang from The Fairly Oddparents
Tumblr media
I might be remembering wrong, but I always really liked Mark in Butch Hartman's iconic cartoon series. He was always so funny, even if he was a reccuring character. What I love most about this character is what Rob brought to the table for Mark, including the story behind how he was cast. Rob brought something very different to the table when he first auditioned by giving this alien the surfer dude voice we all recognize, while others gave him a rather generic alien voice. It's hard to imagine Mark NOT be voiced by Rob Paulsen, who we all know is a legend.
2. Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
Tumblr media
Hard to find an image that isn't meme related, but Carl Wheezer is a character of my childhood. This was my first known Rob Paulsen character, and Carl has always been my favorite character from Jimmy Neutron. He's very sweet, awkward, and loveable, and Rob delivered it perfectly. This, along with the top pick, is a reason why I wanted to say thank you to Rob for being a big part of my childhood.
And #1 is.... Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012)!
Tumblr media
Although this series premiered when I was a teenager, it's still a nostalgic favorite of mine. Rob returns to the voice acting stage, and the TMNT franchise as a whole, as the brainy and awkward Donatello. There's just SO much to love about Donnie, because he's always been a great and funny character. Rob is literally the perfect Donatello, and nothing will ever change that.

HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY TO THE LEGENDARY SONG KNOWN AS YAKKO'S WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!
Do I need to say anything more about this song? There's a reason why Yakko's World is considered a meme in our current day and age. 30 years ago today, this legendary song made its debut, and changed the way Animaniacs songs were viewed. This song is a staple of 90's pop culture, and has stood the test of time, despite the actual info in the song being outdated. This made Yakko Warner a superstar, and is still, to this day, the most viewed page on the Animaniacs Wiki. There's a reason why Yakko's voice actor Rob Paulsen takes every opportunity to sing it. It's bouncy, colorful, and REALLY catchy. I've found myself humming this song more than a few times. Also, I've memorized this song and I'm sure many others have too (it took me two weeks to memorize it only through audio with a rarely-used cheat sheet). Who hasn't heard this song before? I'm encouraging everyone, even if you've heard is dozes of times, to give this song a listen today for its 30th anniversary.
Also...
HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY TO THE VERY FIRST PINKY AND THE BRAIN SEGMENT "WIN BIG"!
Tumblr media
30 years ago today, episode two of the original Animaniacs debuted. With it came the most iconic song in the show, the classic segment "Cookies for Einstein", and the very first segment to not feature the Warners: Pinky and The Brain. Though they appeared in the previous episode and even had their first speaking lines, "Win Big" was the segment that gave the mice most of their iconic traits. A few things shown here include their theme song, Pinky's catchphrases, the AYPWIP gag, Brain's man-suit, the failure of Brain's world domination plans, the ending version of the theme song, and even some minor brinky hints. Seriously, they were doing this way back then. There were a few things that were still in their infancy. Brain and Pinky's voices weren't at their recognizable state. Brain's voice was just a straight-up Orson Welles impression. Pinky's was incredibly over-exaggerated, compared to later when it was softened. Their personalities and movement were also different. Brain was very deadpan and rarely showed emotion, something that would change quite drastically. Pinky was very silly, lacking the emotional intelligence he'd later have. Both mice also moved with extremely cartoony motions, acting like traditional Animaniacs characters. Later, they'd move more realistically to place themselves away from the Animaniacs tone. Despite this episode being overshadowed, it should still be remembered for giving us our favorite mice and all their traditional bits. Happy anniversary to Pinky and The Brain!!

I just forgot to mention that yesterday I finished watching Animaniacs, the 'new' version. I loved it, liked it very much because they were able to make a modern version without losing its essence. Absolutely funny and intelligent stories and jokes, and the animation is very versatile -- they played with various styles of design and animation, all absolutely incredible and amazing. And the best thing for me is that it is voiced by the original voice actors, whom I love with all my heart, especially Rob Paulsen. Of course Pinky & The Brain will be forever my favorites of all the characters. The only thing I wish I saw more was Slappy the Squirrel, which was so good seeing her for one last time on the last episode. But this show will be forever an icon of the 1990s, it's entertainment at its best both for kids as well as for adults. The moments I spent watching it will be dearly remembered. Forever in my heart. <3
